Wargity ( German  Wargitten ) is a local office in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and is located in the Gmina Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

The local office Wargity is located in the northern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 18 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The former Wargitten was a Vorwerk within the manor district of Kudwinnen ( Kudwiny in Polish ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg until 1928 . In 1785 it is mentioned as "noble Vorwerk with 8 fireplaces". In 1820 Wargitten had 49 inhabitants, in 1885 there were 55 and in 1905 still 52. On September 30, 1928 the new rural community Sansgarben was formed from the manor district of Kudwinnen (with the Vorwerk Wargitten) and the manor district of Sansgarben (in Polish : Gęsie Góry ) , into the Wargitten was incorporated.

In 1945 the whole of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland as a result of the war . Wargitten, which received the Polish form of the name "Wargity", was now also affected. In the years after the Second World War , the place ceased to exist more and more. Today there are no residents or buildings in Wargity. The abandoned local office belongs to the rural community of Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Wargitten was parish in the parish of the Evangelical Church Groß Wolfsdorf of the united parishes Groß Wolfsdorf - Dönhofstädt in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church of Korschen in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .

traffic

The Wargity locality can only be reached via partially impassable land routes: from Gęsie Góry (Sansgarben) and Voivodship Road 591 (former German Reichsstraße 141 ) as well as from Krymławki (Krimlack) and Kudwiny (Kudwinnen) . A rail connection is not nearby.
