Kudwiny ( German  Kudwinnen ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Barciany (rural community Barten ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Kudwiny is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 16 kilometers north of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The small 1785 Kudewienen before 1820 Kudwingen and after 1820 Kudewinen called Gutsort was founded 1341st The Gutsbezirk Kudwinnen 1874 was the only place in the newly built office district Sans sheaves ( Polish Gęsie Góry was incorporated). He belonged to the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . To Kudwinnen belonged to the Vorwerk Wargitten (Polish Wargity ) the Vorwerk Sansgarben, from which the manor district Sansgarben was formed before 1892 .

On September 30, 1928, the Kudwinnen manor district (with Vorwerk Wargitten) and the Sansgarben manor district merged to form the new rural community of Sansgarben.

When all of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Kudwinnen was also affected. It received the Polish form of the name “Kudwiny”. As "Przysiółek osady Gęsie Góry" (" Hamlet of the settlement Gęsie Góry "), Kudwiny is now part of the rural municipality of Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Kudwinnen was parish in the Protestant Church of Barten in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , as well as in the Catholic Church Rastenburg in the then diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Kudwiny belongs to the parish of Barciany in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , and on the Protestant side to the parish in Barciany , which is part of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
