Maciejki ( German  Blumenthal ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Barciany (rural community Barten ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Maciejki is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and only two kilometers south of the state border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast (Koenigsberg region) . It is six kilometers to the northeast to the former district town of Gerdauen (now in Russian Schelesnodoroschny ), and 26 kilometers to the southeast to today's district metropolis Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

Blumenthal was created around 1800 and was a Vorwerk by Momehnen ( Polish Momajny ). As of 1883, the place was as Gutsbezirk in District Kanothen (Polish Kanoty , the place no longer exists) called the for loop Gerdauen in Administrative district Königsberg within the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. 41 residents were registered in Blumenthal on December 1, 1910.

On September 30, 1928, the Blumenthal manor district was reclassified into the rural community of Momehnen (Momajny) within the administrative district of the same name.

When all of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Blumenthal was also affected. The manor was given the Polish name form "Maciejki" and is now a settlement ( Polish Osada ) in the association of the rural community Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Good Blumenthal

The former Blumenthal manor in Maciejki

Gut Blumenthal was originally owned by the Schlieben family and was sold after their bankruptcy. Between 1828 and 1834 there was a landowner named Schnell who also lived here. In 1839 the property became an independent manor . In 1864 it came to the Klugkist family until it had to be sold in 1907. It came to the Riebensahm family and, during the First World War, to Julius Grigull .

Instead of the manor house destroyed in the war, a new manor house was built in 1920 with a simple design. On January 19, 1945 the trek left the estate Blumenthal, but was overrun by the Red Army at Zinten (Russian: Kornewo ) . If the landowners were just able to escape, many of the refugees did not survive.

The old manor house still stands today, but is probably not in use and is gradually falling into disrepair. Allegedly a Warsaw citizen bought the manor house, including the park and forge.

church

Until 1945, Blumenthal was parish in the Evangelical Church of Momehnen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church of St. Bruno in Insterburg (today: Chernyachovsk in Russian ) in the then diocese of Warmia .

Today Maciejki belongs to the Catholic parish of Momajny in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Protestant parish of Barciany , a branch of the St. John's Church in Kętrzyn in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Maciejki is located on a side road that branches off at Michałkowo (Langmichels) from Voivodeship Road 591 (former German Reichsstraße 141 ) and leads via Momajny (Momehnen) to Skandawa (Skandau) . There is no rail connection.
