Andreas Schnider

Andreas Schnider (born December 3, 1959 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and former state manager of ÖVP-Styria . He was a member of the Federal Council from 2002 to 2010 . Since July 2013 he has been chairman of the Quality Assurance Council for Pedagogue Education on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Education and Women and the Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy.

Schnider attended the Sacré-Cœur primary school in Graz from 1966 to 1970 and then from 1970 to 1978 the Academic Gymnasium in Graz . After graduating from high school, he studied theology at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz and graduated in 1982 with the academic degree Mag. Theol. from. His doctorate as Dr. theol. took place in 1985. In 1996 he completed his habilitation as a university lecturer at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna . In 2013 he was appointed university professor.

Professional activities

From 1982 to 1989 Schnider worked as a religion teacher at various grammar schools in Graz. From 1983 to 1989 he was also employed as a university assistant at the Institute for Catechetics and Religious Education at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz. In 1989 he founded the Manumedia Schnider Verlag (now: Dr. Schnider's e.U .: Consulting, Publishing and Coaching). Schnider is the author, editor and publisher of numerous books. From 1989 to 2001 he was in charge of the department for general and vocational high and middle schools at the religious education institute of the diocese of Graz-Seckau . From 2001 to 2010 Schnider was in politics. Since 2006/2007 he has been working as a life and social advisor, business consultant and organizer and business coach. In addition, since 2006 Schnider has been a professor for religious education and catechetics as well as for the university course in religious education at the Philosophical-Theological College of Pope Benedict XVI. in Heiligenkreuz. He works as a teacher at various tertiary educational institutions. From 2009 he worked in an advisory capacity for the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture (now BM for Education and Women) and for the Federal Ministry for Science and Research (now BM for Science, Research and Economy): In the period from 2010 to In 2011, Schnider was appointed by these two ministries as chairman of the preparatory group for NEW pedagogue training and from 2011 to 2013 as chairman of the development council for NEW pedagogue training. As a result, he was elected Chairman of the Quality Assurance Council for Pedagogue Education for five years in 2013.

Governor a. D. Waltraud Klasnic appointed Schnider in January 2001 as regional manager of the Styrian People's Party in Graz (until March 2006). In this function he not only vehemently advocated the possibility of "marriage" between homosexuals, but also demanded the right of child adoption for them. From December 17, 2002, Schnider also became a member of the Federal Council in the Austrian Parliament in Vienna as the successor to Fritz Grillitsch . He held this position until October 2010. After the state elections in 2005 , Schnider was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament on October 25, 2005 , but resigned his state parliament mandate after the re-election to the Federal Council on October 27. Schnider was also President of the Austrian Association of Academics (2010–2012).

Private

Schnider has three children and lives in Vienna and Graz.

Since 1981 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Carolina Graz in the ÖCV .
