Andreas Stevens

Andreas Stevens (born January 30, 1958 in Anrath ) is a German guitarist and guitar researcher.

Life

Stevens studied guitar with Maritta Kersting at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf . In addition, he attended master classes with Leo Brouwer , Abel Carlevaro , Konrad Ragossnig , David Russel and Karl Scheit and did private studies with Balthasar Benitez from Uruguay and Ernesto Cordero from Puerto Rico . Since 1980 he has been teaching at the Clara Schumann Music School in Düsseldorf .

In addition to his teaching activities , Stevens is particularly known as a musician and music researcher about the life and work of Heinrich Albert . He presented the first results of his research in 2001 at the guitar symposium of the Federal Academy for Musical Youth Education , which was published in 2002. In 2007 Stevens founded the New Munich Guitar Ensemble, a revival of the guitar quartet based on the Munich pattern. He is also responsible for the design of the Heinrich Albert guitar competition in Gauting . His first recording with solo works by Heinrich Albert was received positively in the professional world. As a co-organizer of the Lake Konstanz Guitar Research Meeting , he gives guitar research international impetus.

In 2009, together with the guitar maker Curt Claus Voigt, he discovered the collection of the Guitarist Association in Munich, which had been lost for decades . Through his mediation, the collection became the property of the Bavarian State Library . In 2012 he was awarded the chitarra d'oro prize in the music research category in Alessandria for his services, becoming the first German in this category.
