Andreas Wilms (economist)

Andreas Wilms (* July 1978 ) is a German banker , economist and university professor . Since April 1, 2019, he has been elected President and thus Head of the Brandenburg University of Technology in Brandenburg an der Havel .

Live and act

After completing his school education, Andreas Wilms completed an apprenticeship as a banker from 1999 to 2001. At the same time, he studied business administration in Hagen , Leipzig , Barcelona and Bangalore from 1999 to 2004 . This was followed by a doctorate at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) from 2004 to 2008 as a Dr. rer. oec. From 2009 to 2012 he worked as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group . In 2012 Wilms was appointed professor for general business administration with a focus on financial management at the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, since 2016 the Brandenburg University of Technology (THB). From 2013 to 2019 he was Vice President of the University for Teaching and International Affairs.

On November 7, 2018, Wilms was elected as the new university president by the Senate of the Brandenburg University of Technology in a competitive vote . He prevailed with 13 to 7 votes against the incumbent Burghilde Wieneke-Toutaoui . On March 21, 2019, Wilms was officially appointed by the Brandenburg Minister for Science, Research and Culture Martina Münch and given the certificate of appointment . On April 1, 2019, he took over the office of President of THB.
