Andreas Zendler

Andreas Zendler (born August 12, 1957 in Neuwied ) is a German computer scientist and professor at the Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science at the Ludwigsburg University of Education .

Live and act

Andreas Zendler attended the Goethe-Gymnasium Regensburg from 1968 to 1977 . After studying psychology (focus: experimental psychology) and philosophy at the University of Regensburg , he worked as a research assistant at this university (experimental planning and statistics) and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1988 the doctorate to Dr. phil. in experimental psychology at the University of Regensburg. From 1985 to 1990 he studied computer science at the Technical University of Munich and at the University of Potsdam , where he received his doctorate in 1997 in the field of practical computer science. rer. nat. received his doctorate and in 2000 habilitation .

In 2004 he was appointed professor for computer science and its didactics at the Pedagogical University of Ludwigsburg , where he was also director of the institute for mathematics and computer science from 2011 to 2016.

Zendler worked in various positions in business: as a data administrator at ADAC Munich (1987–1990), as a lecturer for software technology at HMT GmbH (1990–1991), as chief consultant in the CASE tool area at Softlab Munich (1991–1991) 1999) and as a management consultant / project manager in the field of life science informatics at Helix Informatics / MGM GmbH in Munich (1999–2004). In addition, from 2000 to 2003 he was a member of the European IT Prize Executive Jury as a representative of the Federal Republic of Germany in the EU task “Choice of the best European software products”.

Since 2017, Zendler has been working on the development and implementation of the BA / MA course "Computer Science (10 modules)" at the Ludwigsburg University of Education.

He is the editor of Notes on Educational Informatics .

Research priorities

Initially, Zendler's main research areas were large scale software engineering , mass data management in bioinformatics , software integration platforms, object-oriented modeling methods and multivariate statistics . Today he researches mainly in the areas of teaching methods for computer science lessons, empirical computer science and data science , data mining .
