Andreas Zimmermann (born December 28, 1969 in Berlin ), nicknamed "Zimbo", is a former soccer player and current soccer coach .
Career
Zimmermann began playing football at SV Norden-Nordwest in Berlin before moving to Spandauer BC 06 in 1991 and finally to Hertha BSC , which was then second division, in 1992 . There he scored eight goals in 45 games. In 1995 he moved to 1. FC Union Berlin and in 1996 to the then regional league team LR Ahlen , today's Rot Weiss Ahlen. In a total of 150 games, he scored twelve goals there and rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2000 with the team .
After moving to Rot-Weiss Essen (2002), the stations led him to SC Paderborn 07 (2003) and from there to 1. FC Kleve , where he played from 2004 to 2006. After a detour to SV Siegfried Materborn in 2006, he returned to 1. FC Kleve in January 2007 and took on the role of sports manager. Due to disagreements with the local board, he was dismissed in July 2007.
In 2008 he took up the post of coach of the second team at Rot Weiss Ahlen , which he saved from relegation in 2008. On September 1, 2009, he became the coach of the Ahlen U19 team.
On September 20, 2009, Andreas Zimmermann was promoted to head coach of the second division team after Stefan Emmerling's dismissal. However, as Zimmermann does not have the necessary football instructor license and an application by the club for an exemption was rejected by the DFL, Andreas Zimmermann was replaced by Christian Hock on October 14th . However, Zimmermann remained in the coaching staff and exercised the office of assistant coach.
In March 2011 he made up his previously non-existent license as a soccer teacher and was responsible for the U19s and the construction of the training center at FC Ingolstadt 04 from June 1, 2011 to April 1, 2013 . On September 9, 2013, FC Carl Zeiss Jena introduced him as the successor to the previously dismissed Petrik Sander . On April 13, 2014 Zimmermann was released from his duties as head coach at FC Carl Zeiss Jena. The decisive factor was a home game defeat against VfB Auerbach . From July 2014 Zimmermann coached the West German regional league club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , where he was on leave at the beginning of the 2016/17 season after four defeats at the start of the season. On May 18, 2018, Zimmermann was introduced as a trainer at VSG Altglienicke .
