Andreas Zucktriegel
Andreas Zucktriegel also Zucktriegel OSB / OCSO (born November 30, 1815 in Kirchhaslach ; † February 19, 1893 in Reiningue ) was abbot of Oelenberg Abbey from 1884 to 1889 .
Life
Andreas Zucktriegel (Zucktrigel) entered the Benedictine Abbey of St. Stephan in Augsburg , was prior in the Ottobeuren monastery and in 1848 went to the United States of America with Abbot Bonifaz Wimmer as a missionary . In 1853 he transferred to the Trappist Abbey of Oelenberg in Alsace and took his vows there in 1854. In 1884 he was elected abbot, resigned but after five years due to his poor health.
During Zucktriegel's tenure, the Mariawald branch monastery , which was closed during the so-called Prussian culture war in 1875, was reopened and the Maria Veen Trappist monastery in Westphalia was re-established.
