Andree Juliette Brun
Andree Juliette Brun (* 1924 in Paris ; † March 23, 1989 in Miami ) was a French pianist .
Andree Juliette Brun studied with Marguerite Long , Alfred Cortot and Marcel Ciampi . She gave her first concert when she was eight. At the Conservatoire de Paris she won a first prize in piano playing. In 1972 she made her debut at Carnegie Hall , where she then performed regularly, also with her sister Alberte Brun . She played over 1000 concerts worldwide.
In the course of her life Andre Juliette Brun lived in Los Angeles , married there to the opera tenor Orlin Witcraft, in Miami , Buenos Aires and New York City . And for many years Brun was President of the Miami Beach Community Concert Association , which was based at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach .
Andree Juliette Brun died of lung cancer on March 23, 1989 at the age of 65.
To commemorate their achievements, five bronze busts were commissioned from Frank Colson , a sculptor from Sarasota , Florida . The busts were placed in the Jackie Gleason Theater , but stowed away during a renovation. James W. (Jim) Anderson (1926-2014), widower and second husband of Andree Juliette Brun, asked the City of Miami Beach in 2013 to restore it.
