Andrew L. Ford

Andrew Laughlin Ford (born June 9, 1952 ) is an American classical philologist .

Life

He earned a BA with Honors from Cornell University in 1974 and a Ph.D. with Heinrich von Staden at Yale University with the dissertation Early Greek Words for Poetry: ἀοιδή, ἔπος, ποίησις . From 1980 to 1984 he was an instructor at Smith College . From 1984 to 1986 he was a postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University Mellon. Since 1987 he has taught as a professor at Princeton University . In 2003 he taught as professeur invité at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales at the Center Louis Gernet , Paris.

His research interests are Greek literature and literary history, Aristotle 's poetics, and ancient literary criticism.
