Andropompos ( Greek  Ἀνδρόπομπος ) is a figure in Greek mythology .

According to Pausanias he was the son of Neleiden Boros , but Hellanikos of Lesbos still intervened the Penthilos , so that Andropompos was the grandson of Boros and his mother was called Anchiroë . He was married to Henioche , who came from the family of the kings of Pherai in Thessaly , going back to Admetus , and had Melanthos as their son with her . Melanthos was the founder of the mythical royal dynasty of the Melanthids in Athens , who ended the long rule of the Kekropiden there.

Andropompos killed Xanthos , king of Thebes in a duel, which he illegally won by a ruse , whereupon the Thebans abolished the rule of an individual and placed the government in the hands of several men. According to Strabo , Andropompos was the founder of the Ionian city of Lebedos on the coast of Asia Minor , for which he took possession of a place called Artis.
