The Vandell-Mannsschild ( Androsace vandellii ) or Vandellis Mannsschild called, is a species of the genus Mannsschild ( Androsace ) in the family of Primrose (Primulaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
Vandelli's Mannsschild is a perennial herbaceous plant . It forms firm, dense cushions. Vandelli's man shield is similar to the Swiss man shield , but in contrast to it is thickly white felt due to numerous multi-rayed star hairs up to 0.2 millimeters long ( indument ). The stem is below the terminal, spread leaves columnar and tightly covered with stiff dachziegelig dead leaves. The leaves are 2 to 6 millimeters long, blunt and lanceolate.
Generative characteristics
The flowers stand individually on 2 to 8 millimeter long stems. The hermaphroditic flowers are radial symmetry and five-fold with a double flower envelope . The calyx is 2 to 3 millimeters in size, divided up to the middle and has blunt, narrow calyx teeth. The white corolla has a diameter of 4 to 6 millimeters and the throat is yellow.
The flowering period extends from June to August.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 40.
Occurrence
Vandelli's man shield occurs in the Pyrenees and scattered in the Alps in the southern and central Alps to the east as far as South Tyrol . Vandelli's man shield grows in the crevices and crevices of silicate rocks in the subalpine and alpine altitudes at altitudes of up to over 3000 meters.
