Andrzej Bolesław Olejniczak (born February 17, 1954 in Zduńska Wola ) is a Polish jazz musician (tenor and soprano saxophone), internationally known primarily through his membership in the renowned jazz combo String Connection and Susan Weinert WOW .

Life

Olejniczak grew up in Łódź , where he attended the Music Gymnasium (Liceum Muzyczne) and later the Music Academy (Akademia Muzyczna). His quintet Kwintet Andrzeja Olejniczaka was awarded a prize at the 13th Jazz Student Festival Jazz Nad Odrą with his composition Oda Do Perkusji in 1976 on the vinyl LP XVI - Złota Tarka '76 - Jazz Nad Odrą '76 He played in the big band Katowice.

With the fusion trio Extra Ball (with Jarosław Śmietana g, Wojciech Groborz p) he recorded an album in 1976 and 1977. In 1980 he recorded the LP / CD Tiritaka with the Kazimierz Jonkisz Quintet at Polskie Nagrania Muza . With String Connection he recorded several albums in the early 1980s and most recently String Connection again in 2012 .

Olejniczak has lived and worked in the Basque city of Bilbao in northern Spain since 1984 , where he works as a freelance musician and lecturer at various Spanish music academies. He tours frequently in the US, Canada and Europe.

He recently had contact with classical music as well: in 2014, in collaboration with the Polish Radio Orchestra under Krzesimir Dębski , he released the album New Sax Concertos .
