Cezary Konrad (born December 28, 1967 ) is a Polish jazz musician ( drums , percussion , composition , arrangement ).

Live and act

Konrad graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy , where he studied classical percussion with Stanisław Skoczyński . Then he decided on a career as a jazz musician and founded the Central Heating Trio with the pianist Filip Wojciechowski in 1989 , with which he won first prize at the 1990 Jazz Juniors Festival in Cracow; Another first prize at Jazz Seashore Autumn - the Key to the Career in Gorzów followed in 1991. He also played with the group in 1990 at the Leverkusen Jazz Days , where they were among the finalists of the European jazz competition. He also belonged to the group of Zbigniew Namysłowski , with whom he presented several albums ( Without a Talk , 1990). In 1992 he recorded with Volker Greve and 1995 with Susan Weinert ( Meeting in Kraków ); in the same year he founded his own quartet, with which he presented a first album in 2000. He also belonged to the groups of Anna Maria Jopek (with whom he also recorded with Pat Metheny ), Kuba Stankiewicz , Włodek Pawlik ( Grammy for Night in Calisia ), Krzysztof Herdzin and Andrzej Kurylewicz .

Konrad, who also worked as a studio musician , also played with Randy Brecker , Didier Lockwood , Karrin Allyson , Deborah Brown , Mino Cinelu , Joey DeFrancesco , Tomasz Stańko ( A Farewell to Maria ), Omar Hakim and Nippy Noya . Since 2006 he has also given solo concerts. He has also worked with the Warsaw Percussion Group and the Polish Radio and TV Orchestra.

Prizes and awards

Konrad received a Mateusz Award and a Komeda grant. Between 2006 and 2009, he led the reader poll in the Polish magazine TopDrummer .
