Andy Bruce (born April 2, 1969 in Copenhagen ) is a British jazz musician ( trombone )

Bruce, who grew up in Stirling , moved to the Netherlands in 1992, where he studied trombone at the Hilversum Conservatory . He became part of the pop band The Bob Color (1994-1998) and from 1999 the crossover funk band Raise the Roof . Since 1995 he has also worked with the Beau Hunks , with whom several albums were created.

Bruce was a permanent member of the Willem Breuker Kollektief from 2002 , with whom he toured internationally and released several CDs. He also played in the Metropole Orkest and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw . He also founded Andy Bruce & The Rigidly Righteous with Hermine Deurloo , Martin Fondse , Alan Purves , the guitarist Sander Hop and the tuba player Frans Cornelissen in 2006 , where he combined traditional Scottish music and jazz; Under his own name, he and this band released the album The Midge in 2009 , which received good reviews. Since 2018 he has been part of the Dutch Swing College Band . He can also be heard on albums by Boudewijn de Groot , Theo Nijland, Andrzej Piaseczny and the music comedians of Baron Rabinovitsj .
