Andy Nyman (born April 13, 1966 in Leicester ) is a British actor , producer , screenwriter and magician .

life and career

Andy Nyman was born in the central English county of Leicestershire and made his acting debut in 1989 in an episode of the television series Birds of a Feather in a supporting role. His acting breakthrough came in 2000 in the role of Keith Whitehead in the film adaptation of Martin Amis ' novel Dead Babies . He played a leading role in a Polish freedom fighter in the NBC production Uprising, which received an Emmy Award . In the German-speaking world, he was best known for his portrayal of the hypochondriac Howard in the 2007 film comedy Die for Beginners .

Andy Nyman is also known as a magician and mentalist . Since 2005 he has worked closely with the magician Derren Brown , for whose Derren Brown television series he wrote numerous screenplays and appeared as a producer. In 2008 Nyman starred in the psychic television series Crooked House, which aired on BBC Four .
