Angelo Vincenzo Zani (born March 24, 1950 in Pralboino , Province of Brescia , Italy ) is a Curial Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Angelo Vincenzo Zani studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Seminary of the Diocese of Brescia , and received on 20 September 1975, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After further studies at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas , he was at the Pontifical Lateran University for Doctor of theology doctorate . He completed a social science degree at the Pontifical Gregorian University .

He was initially vice rector of the Istituto CESARE ARICI school . From 1983 to 1995 he was Professor of General Sociology at the Philosophical-Theological Institute of the Pontifical University of the Salesians in Nave and the Sociology of Religion at the Paul VI Theological Institute. of the diocesan seminary in Brescia . From 1990 to 1995 he also taught religious didactics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Brescia. From 1981 to 1995 he was also director of diocesan pastoral care in Brescia, secretary of the administrative council and priestly service and head of the church schools in the diocese. For the Bishops' Conference of Lombardy, he headed the commission for school pastoral care.

From 1995 to 2002 Zani was National Director of Education and Universities in the Italian Bishops' Conference . Since January 2002, Zani has been Undersecretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education.

On November 9, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Volturnum and secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education . The Pope personally donated his episcopal ordination on January 6, 2013 in St. Peter's Basilica ; Co-consecrators were Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB and the Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski .

Pope Francis confirmed him on November 30, 2013 in the office of Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education.
