Anja Röhn

Anja Röhn (* 1975 in Stockholm ) is a German violinist and concert master .

Anja Röhn grew up in Germany. Her father, Andreas Röhn , directed the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra for almost 30 years . Her mother is the Swedish pianist Kerstin Hindart , her brother, Daniel Röhn , solo violinist . The grandfather Erich Röhn was concertmaster with the Berlin Philharmonic under Wilhelm Furtwängler .

She completed her studies in Munich with Kurt Guntner , where she graduated with a master class diploma . A scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) enabled her to study for two years with Shmuel Ashkenasi in Chicago. She received further musical inspiration from master classes with Ana Chumachenco , Ida Haendel , Herman Krebbers , Igor Oistrach and Joseph Silverstein. She received a scholarship from the Villa Musica Foundation .

In 2001 Anja Röhn won first prize at the Jeunesses Musicales International Music Competition in Bucharest. She has performed as a solo violinist in several European countries and in the USA, including at the Salle Gaveau in Paris with Beethoven's violin concerto . Anja Röhn has been 2nd concertmaster in the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra , which is under the direction of James Gaffigan , since 2002 . At the Ludwigsburg Festival in 2012 she took part in the world premiere of Richard van Schoor's “Oratorium”. In 2013 she played with the Melbourne Ring Orchestra. Further appearances in Sweden, with the "Primavera-Quintett" followed. She also performed with Stephanie Knauer.

Anja Röhn has been the artistic director of the Kunst.Kultur association, which organizes the chamber concerts at Kunstkeramik Ebikon , since 2016 .
