The Anna (formerly Pillnitz ) is a motor ferry built in 1930 that is in service in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel . It is operated by NORDSTERN Schifffahrtsgesellschaft mbH.

history

The Anna ferry was built in 1930 in the Laubegast shipyard in Dresden as a Pillnitz motor ferry for the Saxon-Bohemian Steamship Company , where the Pillnitz was the first pure motor ferry. During the Second World War , it was used in an armaments factory near the town of Riesa on the Elbe . During the war the ship was damaged and sank. Immediately after the end of the war, the wreck of the ferry was lifted and overtaken again at the Laubegast shipyard. After the expropriation of the Saxon-Bohemian Steamship Company, the Pillnitz came to the state of Saxony and was used in the state's shipping and transshipment operations until 1949. In 1950, the ferry came as Pillnitz I to the Dresden public transport companies . After the political changes that took THA and subsequently from the state-owned company emerged (VEB) Dresden Transport AG Pillnitz I . It was used on various ferry connections of the Dresden transport company across the Elbe.

In October 2012 the ferry was sold to the Nordstern shipping company based in Brandenburg an der Havel. In Brandenburg the ship was renamed Anna .

Ferry service

In 2013 the Anna ferry was used for the first time in regular service between the Salzhof stations in the center of the city and the excursion destinations Buhnenhaus and Malge on the Havel and Breitlingsee . The route has a length of about 8.5 kilometers. In the 2014 season, the Frieda ferry was used on the connection instead of the Anna . Since April 2015 the Anna has been in regular operation again . It runs three times a day between April and October on weekdays and at least four times a day in each direction on weekends and public holidays. A trip costs 3 euros per station in the normal price, 1.50 euros for children between 6 and 13 and 2 euros for bicycles and dogs. The journey takes 45 minutes between the Salzhof and Buhnenhaus stations and 30 minutes between the Buhnenhaus and Malge.

Technical specifications

The Anna , built in 1930, is 15.90 meters long, 4.02 meters wide and 0.92 meters deep . In 1930 it was approved for 90 passengers and in 1980 for 102 passengers. In 1998, admission was reduced to 40 people. Over the decades, the ship's engine has been replaced several times. The first engine was a 35 hp diesel engine from Hille-Werke . This was exchanged for a 40 hp engine in 1950 and a 50 hp engine from the Schönebeck diesel engine plant in 1971 . In 2013 Anna got a 121 hp Volvo diesel engine.
