Anna Ditges (* 1978 in Bonn ) is a German filmmaker .

life and work

Anna Ditges was born in Bonn in 1978. In 1994 she decided to go to Spain for six months , then stayed there for two years and graduated from the German School in Valencia . In 1997 she began studying at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne with a focus on film directing, from which she graduated in 2002 with a diploma in audiovisual media . Ditges was inspired by her grandmother, who comes from the Caucasus , on the subject of her diploma film . The documentary is entitled I'm just as German as you - A German-Russian family portrait and deals with the attempts at integration of Germans from Russia . Anna Ditges began working as a freelance film editor for WDR, among others, during her studies in 2001 . This also broadcast Ditges' diploma film in 2003 I'm just as German as you - A German-Russian family portrait . Her next film project followed in 2006: Ditges had conversations with contemporary witnesses from the Second World War under the title My Story . This resulted in six fifteen-minute interview pieces for WDR and Phoenix. In the same year she also founded her own production company punktfilm Anna Ditges , which still exists today.

In 2007 Anna Ditges' film debut I will you - Encounters with Hilde Domin was released . Ditges accompanied the German poet over a period of almost two years, creating a highly acclaimed portrait that gives deep insights into the life and work of the writer Hilde Domin . Horst Königstein wrote: "The film accomplishes the impossible: it constructs a life, a life's work in the flow, in commentary, everything with a completely unusual delicacy and tenderness." The FAZ added: "Anna Ditges has created a moving portrait of the controversial poet. The film is as lively as the poet ”. The actress Anna Thalbach read selected poems by Domins for the film.

As a scholarship holder of the Mediengründerzentrum NRW , Ditges completed further training as a producer in the field of film and television in 2008. In 2009 she learned fictional screenwriting at the New York Film Academy.

In her next film, Ora et Labora - The Pöppelmann Company , Ditges portrayed the Catholic medium- sized company in 2011 . The director went into the company's history, successes and failures as well as the firm belief in God.

In 2015, the second feature documentary Who Owns the City - Citizens on the Move followed , which was discussed very positively, was screened at international festivals and sparked a multitude of social debates on the subject of democracy and participation. The Berliner Zeitung wrote: “With charm and humor, the Cologne director shows how completely different values ​​and lifestyles collide and thus takes a close look at the basic problem of democracy.” Anna Ditges continued the interdisciplinary discussion as part of the Project Mein Ehrenfeld - Our Future with young people made six short films about home and identity.

In 2019 Anna Ditges completed the one-year additional training to become a scriptwriter at the script workshop in Munich .

From 2020 to 2021 she will take part in the INTO THE WILD mentoring program .

Anna Ditges lives in Cologne . She is currently working on her feature film debut.
