Anna Ebermann , b. Ziegler (born February 10, 1891 in Rottenbauer near Würzburg , † March 17, 1944 in Berlin-Plötzensee ), resisted National Socialism .

Life

Anna Ebermann was born as the daughter of Kaspar and Katharina Ziegler in Rottenbauer near Würzburg. The worker married the baker Karl Ebermann and moved to Berlin. In 1931 she joined the KPD . In 1932, after participating in a demonstration, Anna Ebermann was sentenced to three weeks in prison for “resisting state violence” and “insulting officials”. After 1933, her apartment on Gürtelstrasse became a meeting place for opponents of the regime illegally living in Berlin. Ebermann's daughter Carmen and her husband, Hans Fruck , belonged to the resistance group around Herbert Baum , which the Gestapo discovered in 1942; Carmen Fruck received a prison sentence and Hans Fruck a prison sentence .

In the spring of 1943 Anna Ebermann spent a vacation in her birthplace and on April 30th made “statements critical of the regime” in a restaurant. After a denunciation, she was arrested by the Gestapo on May 5 for "offending against the treachery law" and taken to the Würzburg remand prison. On November 19, 1943, Anna Ebermann was sentenced to death by the People's Court for “publicly degrading military strength” . After her transfer to Plötzensee on March 17, 1944, the execution took place on the same day .

Honors

There is a memorial plaque on her former home at 11 Gürtelstrasse. In 1976 in Berlin-Alt-Hohenschönhausen (today a part of the Lichtenberg district ) Anna-Ebermann-Straße was named after her. Since July 5, 2016, there has been a stumbling block in front of Lilienweg 6 in Würzburg-Rottenbauer, where she was arrested in 1943.
