Anna Katterfeld

Anna Katterfeld (also: Anna Ilgenstein-Katterfeld , married name: Anna Ilgenstein , born October 14, 1880 in Kėdainiai , Russian Empire ; † February 20, 1964 in Steinen ) was a German writer .

Life

Anna Katterfeld came from a German Baltic family. She grew up in Courland and went to school in Riga . From 1899 she worked as an educator at Schloss Bujen near Hasenpoth ; from 1905 the religion teacher was at a school in Mitau . Since her ear problems had led to hearing loss at an early age , she was forced to give up her job. She began writing Protestant edification literature . From 1912 she lived mainly in Germany . In 1930 she married the Protestant pastor Wilhelm Ilgenstein, with whom she lived in Düsseldorf until 1936 . From 1936 the couple was based in Badenweiler .

Anna Katterfeld's extensive work consists mainly of stories for adults and young people as well as biographies of Protestant personalities.
