Anna Lange (politician)

Irma Anna ("Anni") Lange (born Sobbelies ; born November 23, 1904 in Berlin ; † April 3, 1999 ibid) was a German politician . From 1950 to 1958 she was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Anna Lange grew up in an orphanage. She attended elementary school and then worked as a maid. From 1921 to 1923 she trained as a saleswoman. She became a member of the trade union in 1921 and of the socialist youth movement in 1922. From 1923 to 1931 she worked as a saleswoman in Frankfurt (Oder) and Berlin. From 1924 to 1933 she was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From 1931 to 1941 she worked as a temporary worker in various trading houses in Berlin and from 1941 to 1946 as a money lifter at Bewag .

After the Second World War she was again a member of the SPD in 1945/46. From 1946 to 1950 she was a housewife and 1950/1951 secretary in the consumer cooperative in Berlin-Treptow. In 1950 she became a member of the Democratic Women's Association of Germany (DFD).

From 1950 to 1958 she was a representative of the Berlin People's Chamber and a member of the DFD parliamentary group . During her second term she served on the Grace Committee. From 1951 to 1953 she was DFD district secretary in Berlin-Treptow and was elected to the DFD district board of Berlin in 1952. In 1953 she became a district councilor in Berlin-Treptow. From February 1953 to 1957 she was Deputy Chairwoman of the Berlin-Treptow District Council and Head of the Culture Department. In 1954 she became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED).

From 1960 to 1966 she was employed as a representative of the city district council in the Adlershof branch and after the branch was closed in 1966 as a management officer in the council of the Berlin-Treptow district. Later she was head of the marriage and family counseling center of the Treptow district council until 1975.

Anna Lange was married and had one child.
