Ansemburg ( Luxembourgish Aansebuerg , French Ansembourg ) is a village in the municipality of Helperknapp , canton Mersch , in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .

Ansemburg lies in the valley of the Eisch , a tributary of the Alzette . Neighboring towns are Hollenfels in the northeast , Dondelingen in the south and Bour in the west .

General

The place is a small rural village and takes its name from the Ansemburg castle above the place . The core of today's castle complex dates from the 12th century and was first mentioned in a document in 1135. In addition to the castle, Ansemburg Castle is the second major attraction in the small town. The castle was built between 1639 and 1647 in the Baroque style. In the center of the village there is a small chapel, which was dedicated to the Comforter of the Afflicted and built in 1671.
