Madleinhof residence

The Madleinhof Ansitz (also known as Rumer Schlößl ) is located in the municipality of Thaur in the Innsbruck-Land district of Tyrol (Madleinweg 15). The name of the farm goes back to an old field name, as a document from 1493 speaks of a path that leads down behind Madleins . The name Rumer Schlößl is related to the proximity to the place Rum .

history

The residence was first mentioned in 1493 as being owned by the Fieger von Melans family . In 1605 it came into the possession of the Jesuits , who used the residence as the summer residence of the Haller religious branch. In 1605 the rector of the Society of Jesus in Hall applied for tax exemption for this farm. In the year of the plague in 1611, it served the Jesuits as a place of refuge. In 1667 the residence was sold again and the Jesuits moved to the Thöml-Schlössl , which was closer to their Haller branch. After various owners, the castle at Madlein was inherited in 1784 by Johann Gabriel Umhaus (er), curate of Ridnaun , who sold it on to the current owner family, but reserved its lifelong use as a summer resort. At the beginning of the 17th century the Jesuits redesigned the residence in Baroque style , adding a floor to the top with high windows.

Madleinhof residence today

The core of the residence is a late Gothic building. It is a three-storey building and, on the face towards the valley, a five-axis building of the early Baroque (basement and extension). The narrow side has only two axes. A circular portal shifted from the center to the west opens up to a spacious vestibule with lancet vaults . On the first floor there is a continuous Gothic plank-beam ceiling that can be dated to the 16th century (at the earliest from 1560/70 to around 1600); this floor is much lower than the second floor that was added later. The building is covered with a hipped roof and has a house chapel, which was added to a room in the 18th century. The partly modernized farm wings are arranged to the north, while a vegetable and ornamental garden is located to the south.

The current owner is Josef Brunner, who breeds horses and sells mare's milk here.
