Waldgries in St. Justina is a late Renaissance mansion in Rentsch or in St. Justina , a district of Bolzano (cadastral community of Twelve Malgrei ). It has been a listed building since 1951 .

Waldgries is a farmstead in the year 1242 in the register of Bolzano notary Jacob Haas with Reinhard and Lanzius de Walgriaz mentioned in documents. In 1319 it was owned by Perlin, son of Perlins de Walgries . In 1464 the farm is owned by Peter Ziernhueber von Walgries bey Runtsch and half of Botzen . Around 1570, on the initiative of Bernhard Eyrl (died 1580), the complex was rebuilt in manorial forms. His son Adam, sovereign tax collector on the Adige , was ennobled in 1589 and assumed the title Waldgries around 1602 . In 1629 the residence went to Christian von Hausmann, in 1676 to the Lords of Coreth, and in 1759 it was sold to the Clariss monastery in Hall in Tyrol . After its abolition in 1782, the property was dismantled by the state religious fund, but its structural inventory was preserved, and in 1828 it was owned by Anton Wenter.

The regular building has a spacious central hall on the first floor, the rooms are equipped with field ceilings . On the second floor there is a barrel-vaulted chapel with a groin -vaulted antechamber and a roof turret . The existing wall paintings are from the late 16th century ( Trinity , Apocalyptic Woman , Annunciation of the Lord , Abraham's Sacrifice, Brazen Serpent , Jonas, Resurrection ).

In the later years of his life, the painter Albin Egger-Lienz lived in the nearby Villa Grünwald , where he died on November 4, 1926.
