Anson is the district capital of Jones County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located about 330 km west of Dallas , in the mid-northwest of Texas and has a total area of ​​5.4 km² without any significant water surface.

history

The settlement was formed as Jones City as part of the construction of the Texas & Pacific Railroad , served as a supply depot for the railroad for a long time and became the seat of the county administration in 1881. In 1882 the city was renamed to Anson after Anson Jones , the 5th President of the Republic of Texas. In 1883 the first newspaper, Texas Western , was published by Dick Davis.
