Ansor Kawasashvili

Ansor Amberkowitsch Kawasaschwili ( Russian Анзо́р Амберкович Кавазашви́ли , Georgian ანზორ ყავაზაშვილი / Ansor Qawasaschwili; born July 19, 1940 in Batumi ) is a former Soviet football goalkeeper , coach and sports official of Georgian origin.

But in the late 1960s and early 1970s was Kawasaschwili one of the best goalkeepers in the world stood in the Sbornaja in the shadow of the century goalkeeper Lev Yashin . Nevertheless, he was used in both joint World Championships in 1966 and 1970 , alternating with Yashin. After his active time he trained next to the third division team Spartak Kostroma the U-19 team of the RSFSR , as well as the national teams of Chad and Guinea and worked as a functionary in the Russian Football Association. After the end of the Soviet Union, he ran for the presidency of the Russian Football Association several times without success and is now a businessman and football expert for various Russian media.

Kawasashvili was trained in the football school of Dinamo Tiflis , he made his first division debut for the club's first team in 1957, but remained only a second substitute and after only five more appearances moved to the 1960 season as a regular goalkeeper at Zenit Leningrad . After less than a year he moved to the capital at the then top club Torpedo, where he only remained a substitute for the first two years. It was not until 1963 that he became a regular and he soon made his breakthrough; In 1965 and 1967 he was elected Soviet goalkeeper of the year before Lev Yashin, at the same time he rose to number two in the national team's goal and was even able to temporarily oust Yashin out of the gate. In 1969 he moved to city rivals Spartak to end his career with second division club Torpedo Kutaisi in 1972 .

When Kawasashvili trained the lower-class Club Spartak from Kostroma in 1974 , he came to three more appearances in goal as a substitute.
