Anssi Pentsinen (born August 30, 1986 in Jämsä ) is a Finnish cross-country skier . He mainly competes in the sprint discipline.

Career

Pentsinen has been participating in competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2004 . He ran his first World Cup race in March 2008 in Lahti , which he finished with 71st place in the sprint. He got his first World Cup points in the 2010/11 season at the Nordic Opening. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 , he finished 32nd in the sprint. He achieved his best individual World Cup result to date in December 2011 in Düsseldorf with fourth place in the sprint. He won bronze in the sprint at the 2013 Finnish cross-country skiing championships in Jämijärvi . He reached 16th place in the sprint and team sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he finished 34th in the sprint. In February 2015 he reached the 22nd place in the sprint at the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun . In the 2015/16 season he came 32nd at the Nordic Opening in Ruka and 47th at the 2016 Tour de Ski . In February 2017 he finished second in the sprint at the Finnish championships in Keuruu . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti, he came 29th in the sprint. The following year he became Finnish champion over 15 km freestyle in Hakunila and finished 51st over 15 km freestyle at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
