António Paulo Sanches Semedo (born June 1, 1979 in Lisbon ) is a former Portuguese football player . He played a total of 265 games in the Portuguese Primeira Liga , the Romanian Liga 1 , the Cypriot First Division and the Azerbaijani Premyer Liqası . In 2008 he won the Romanian championship with CFR Cluj .

Career

Semedo started his professional career at Casa Pia AC in 1998 and played there until 2000 and then moved to CF Estrela Amadora . After six seasons he moved to CFR Cluj on a free transfer , where he had become the crowd favorite. In August 2008 he moved to Steaua Bucharest for approx. € 1,200,000 after falling out with the then coach ( Ioan Andone ) from CFR Cluj. A year later, the Portuguese signed with league rivals Unirea Urziceni .

With Unirea, Semedo was Romanian runner-up in the 2009/10 season . Then the club got into financial difficulties and had to give up its best players. He himself moved to Alki Larnaka in Cyprus in January 2011 . Half a year later, he was drawn to FK Xəzər Lənkəran in Azerbaijan. He ended his career in summer 2012.
