Antônio Maria Corrêa de Sá e Benevides (born February 23, 1836 in Campos dos Goytacazes , State of Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ; † July 15, 1896 in Mariana , Minas Gerais ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Mariana .

Life

Antônio Maria Corrêa de Sá e Benevides attended the Imperial Colégio Dom Pedro II until 1853 before studying physics and natural sciences at the Escola Central . He then taught at the Colégio Pedro II . Corrêa de Sá e Benevides was on December 11, 1864 Deacon ordained and received on 17 December of the same year, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 30, 1876, Emperor Peter II of Brazil presented him as Bishop of Goiás and the confirmation by Pope Pius IX. took place on December 18 of the same year. On April 24, 1877, Peter II of Brazil presented him as Bishop of Mariana. After Pius IX. had confirmed this appointment on June 25, 1877, donated him on September 9 of the same year the Internuntius in Brazil, Archbishop Cesare Roncetti , the episcopal ordination . The inauguration took place on November 17, 1877.
