Anta from Cerqueira
The Anta of Cerqueira (also called Arca de Cerqueira or Casa da Moura) is a large megalithic complex in Couto de Esteves , 1.6 km south of Campo de Arca in Portugal . It is located in the Serra Arestal and is the most complete Anta in the Aveiro district . Anta is the Portuguese name for around 5000 megalithic structures or dolmens , which were built during the Neolithic in the west of the Iberian Peninsula by the successors of the cardial or imprint culture .
The Anta studied in the 1950s and 1980s is between 4000 and 3500 BC. BC and is located in a necropolis consisting of eight monuments. Its polygonal broad chamber, the main axis of which is perpendicular to the passage, is about 3.5 m wide, 3.0 m long and consists of nine supporting stones. The only capstone (3.75 × 3.25 m) and most of the side stones of the 4.4 m long corridor have been preserved. The hill, originally framed by curbs, has largely been preserved. The road to Cerqueira cut it so that the passage leads to the street. The Anta is under protection and has a display board with a detailed explanation.
