Antal Ligeti

Antal Ligeti (born January 10, 1823 in Nagykároly , † January 5, 1890 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian landscape painter .

Life

Ligeti was initially a merchant, but went to Italy to train as an artist in 1845 , where he joined the landscape painter Károly Markó in Florence , and returned in 1848.

At the expense of Count Stephan Károlyi, Ligeti undertook a study trip of several years to Egypt , Palestine , Lebanon , Damascus , Cyprus , Rhodes , the Greek islands, Malta and Sicily in 1855 .

He settled in Pest in 1861 , where he was curator at the picture gallery .
