Antboy - The Revenge of the Red Fury (Original title: Antboy: Den Røde Furies hævn ) is a Danish youth film by Ask Hasselbalch from 2014. The film is based on the children's books by Kenneth Bøgh Andersen and is the sequel to Antboy - The Bite of the Ant  (2013). The release in Denmark was on December 25, 2014. In Germany, the film opened on June 25, 2015.

After Pelle has defeated his adversary, the nasty flea, in Part 1, he continues to stand up for the good as Antboy. In his real life, however, he is in a bind. He is head over heels in love with his best friend Ida, but Maria also has an eye on him. Since he ignores her, Maria becomes Red Fury , a superhero who from then on spreads chaos and terror with the help of a camouflage suit. Now Antboy not only has to show courage, but also instinct.

criticism

The film service said that Antboy “ brilliantly concentrates on the contradicting emotional world of teenagers, which sometimes comes at the expense of charm and ease”. The production, however, focuses on the question of "what makes a true hero", so that "some discrepancies do not matter".

Awards

At the Danish Film Awards ceremony , Antboy won the Best Children's and Youth Film. He was also nominated in the categories of Best Costumes , Best Mask , Best Sound , Best Film Music and Best Special Effects.
