Ante Ivas

Ante Ivas (born December 26, 1939 in Vodice , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Šibenik .

Life

Ante Ivas attended elementary school in his native Vodice. Further education took place in the grammar school of the archbishop's seminary in Zagreb . Then Ante Ivas studied theology and philosophy at the Catholic Faculty in Zagreb. He was ordained a priest on July 5, 1964 and served as the parish vicar at the Šibenik Cathedral until 1966 . From 1966 to 1977 he looked after the parishes of Njivice in Šibenik . From 1977 to 1980 he was assigned to the parish of Grebeštica. He then headed the parish of Murter from 1980 to 1982. His other parishes were Zaton and Rasline. In 1988 he took over the service of vicar general in the diocese of Šibenik.

After Bishop Srečko Badurin died unexpectedly, Ante Ivas was entrusted with the management of the Diocese of Šibenik on September 17, 1996 . He was appointed bishop on February 5, 1997. He received his episcopal ordination on March 19, 1997 in the Cathedral of Šibenik Franjo Cardinal Kuharić , the Archbishop of Zagreb ; Co- consecrators were Ante Jurić , Archbishop of Split-Makarska , and Ivan Prendja, Archbishop of Zadar . Bishop Ante Ivas took over the board of directors for Croatian Catholic youth as president of the Croatian Bishops' Conference .

Pope Francis accepted Ante Iva's age-related resignation on June 3, 2016.
