Ante Jazić (born February 27, 1976 in Bedford , Nova Scotia ) is a former Canadian football player of Croatian descent. The defender was most recently under contract with the US first division club CD Chivas USA .

Club career

Ante Jazić played at the beginning of his career for one season with the amateur club Halifax King of Donair and one season with the football team of Dalhousie University . In 1997 he moved to Europe and went to Croatia, his parents' country of origin. There he signed with NK Hrvatski dragovoljac , who had previously been promoted to the 1st HNL (first division). Due to his good performance, other clubs became aware of the Canadian and so he went to league competitor HNK Hajduk Split in 1999 . In his season with Split, he won the national cup with the club. After this success, Jazić moved to the Austrian record champions SK Rapid Vienna . Until 2004 he won no major title with his team. The move to the Russian first division club FK Kuban Krasnodar was also unsuccessful, as the club relegated to the second division at the end of the 2004 season and left it again immediately. In 2006 Jazić returned to North America and moved to Los Angeles Galaxy in the first US division, where he played alongside David Beckham until December 2008 . From January 2009 to 2013 the Canadian played for local rivals CD Chivas USA .

National team

Ante Jazić played a total of 37 international matches for the Canadian national soccer team from 1998 to 2012 and scored one goal. He made his debut at the age of 21 when he came on as a substitute for the Macedonia game .
