Anthocercis genistoides a plant is art from the genus Anthocercis in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Anthocercis genistoides is an upright, thorny shrub with a stature height of up to 3 m. It can appear almost without leaves and is usually hairless. The leaves are narrowly elliptical to linear or vice versa ovate, perched and usually 5 to 30 mm long and up to 2 mm wide. They have entire margins and, when young, have predominantly glandular trichomes .

The flowers are in terminal or axillary cymes on 2 to 6 mm long pedicels . The calyx reaches a length of 1.5 to 3.5 mm and is hairy on the inside. The crown is 8 to 25 mm long, is also hairy on the inside and white to creamy white or rarely pale yellow, it has stripes of maroon, purple, brown or green color. The corolla lobes are narrow triangular or linear and are 4 to 20 mm long, at the tips they are glandular. The stamens reach a length of 2.5 to 4 mm.

The fruit is an elliptical capsule with a length of 6 to 8 mm, the seeds become 2 mm long.

Distribution and locations

The species is endemic to southwestern Western Australia . It grows there in scattered populations, which are mostly in connection with granite outcrops in sandy to sandy-loamy soils.
