Anthony Moris (born April 29, 1990 in Arlon , Belgium ) is a Belgian - Luxembourg soccer player who has been playing for the second division Royale Union Saint-Gilloise since 2020 . In addition to the Belgian nationality, he also has Luxembourg nationality and after he played for Belgian youth national teams, he decided to play for the Luxembourg national team.
Career
In the club
Anthony Moris, whose father is from Luxembourg, began playing football in the RCS Habay-la-Neuve youth team and later moved to Standard Liège's youth academy . At the age of 17 he first appeared in the senior division for the Standard Liège reserve team and three years later he made his professional debut. In two years he came to a total of nine games in the 1st division . During the winter break of the 2013/14 season, he was loaned to league rivals VV St. Truiden , before finally leaving Liège in summer 2014 and moving to KV Mechelen . After two seasons as a substitute goalkeeper, he was finally able to fight for a regular place in goal in 2016/17. After a cruciate ligament rupture in March 2017, Moris was out for a good six months. In his four years at Mechelen, he made only 17 league appearances, in 2017/18 he didn't play at all.
In July 2018, he switched to Royal Excelsior Virton in the third-class 1st Division Amateurs , where his national team colleagues Aurélien Joachim and Dwayn Holter also play. For the 2019/20 season, Excelsior Virton was promoted to Division 1B . There the club was denied its license in summer 2020 and Virton was relegated to the fourth division. Moris then signed a three-year contract with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise .
National team
In 2008, Anthony Moris played four games for Belgium's U18 national team . In the following period he played four times for the Belgian U19 national team from 2008 to 2009 and on March 24, 2011 he played his only game for the Belgian U21 national team in a 1-0 win in the friendly against Scotland .
In the following period, Anthony Moris decided for the national team of Luxembourg and made his debut on May 26, 2014 in a 5-1 test match in Genk against World Cup participants Belgium for the team of the Grand Duchy, in which he was the template for the interim 1-1 - Compensation by Aurélien Joachim succeeded.
