Antoine Le Pautre or Lepautre (born January 15, 1621 in Paris ; † 1691 ibid) was a French architect.

From 1646 to 1648 he built the branch monastery of Port Royal des Champs , the Port-Royal convent in Paris. In 1653 he published under the protection of Cardinal Mazarin Recueil de dessins de plusieurs palais , a book in which he gave free rein to his ideas.

Between 1655 and 1660 he built the Hôtel de Beauvais on Rue François-Miron, the development of this highly irregular plot of land bringing great recognition - even Bernini found it worth mentioning on the occasion of his stay in Paris.

In 1660 Le Pautre was appointed Contrôleur général des bâtiments Philipps von Orléans , the brother of Louis XIV . In this role he built the famous grande cascade in the park of Saint-Cloud in 1667, which survived the destruction of the castle in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71.

Following several drawings in the Stockholm National Museum, Le Pautre is the creator of Colbert's horse stables in Sceaux Castle (early 1670s).

At the same time Madame de Montespan asked him for plans for her castle in Clagny . Le Pautre's death in 1679 interrupted the work, which was finished by Jules Hardouin-Mansart .
