Anton Andreas Guha (born April 1, 1937 in Katarínska Huta (Katharinenhütte), Cinobaňa municipality ; † February 7 or 8, 2010 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German journalist and author.

Life

Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Frauenau in the Bavarian Forest. With his brother he graduated from high school in a Regensburg boarding school. He studied German, history and English in Erlangen and sociology and psychology in Frankfurt am Main .

In 1967, after meeting Karl Gerold , he began working as an editor at the Frankfurter Rundschau . In the newsroom he was responsible for South America and security policy.

His phone calls with Thomas Schwätzer (Max Watts) were bugged in 1973 by the US Army secret service as part of the Penguin Monk project . In December 1977 he was offered a position in the planning department of the Bonn Chancellery, whereupon he learned that he had been subjected to surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution for years. In 1978 he received the Guardian Prize of the German daily press for his discovery that travelers who carried left-wing extremist literature with them would be captured by the border police. In this context, the question arose of how often the constitution protection checks in public libraries. He became a critic of the security and armaments policy of NATO and the federal government. When a series of nuclear war dystopias appeared in 1983 , he contributed with his diary from World War III. In 1985 he learned from the " Gosplan " planning authority in Moscow that the productivity of the Soviet economy was only 40 percent of that of the American economy.

Quote

  • "Only limitless naivety can assume that these Euro-strategic weapon systems could have been given into the development without concrete and definitely military-political ideas about their use."
