Anton Boller
Anton Boller (born January 2, 1811 in Krems an der Donau , † January 19, 1869 in Vienna ) was an Austrian philologist and university professor.
Boller initially studied medicine, but he turned to linguistics and was particularly concerned with Sanskrit . In 1845 he took a position as a private lecturer in Sanskrit at the University of Vienna . In 1848 he was admitted to the Austrian Academy of Sciences as a corresponding member and in 1857 as a permanent member. In 1850 he was appointed associate professor and in 1855 full professor . He taught comparative linguistics and Sanskrit. Boller published among other things on Finno-Ugric languages .
