Anton Brams (* 1988 in Berlin as Anton Willert) is a German volleyball trainer and entrepreneur .

Career

As a player

Brams began his career as a player at the age of seven with the Berlin TSC . With the club he won the German junior championship and the federal cup several times. He also took part in the 2006 World Schools Championship. Later, Brams, who moved from the outside attack to the position of the Libero, also played in the capital for VC Olympia . Due to a hip damage and problems with the intervertebral disc , he had to end his career as a player early.

As a trainer and scout

After Brams had represented a befriended trainer, he became a trainer at the age of 18. He led the Berlin Brandenburger Sportclub from the district league to the regional league within two years. As an assistant trainer, he was responsible for the Berlin state selection. Brams took on the same task in 2009 for two years at the VC Olympia and thus at the same time for the German junior national team. There he also gained his first experience in the Bundesliga . In 2012 he moved to the University of Hawaii . As a graduate assistant, he looked after the men's and women's teams as a team manager and was also responsible for video analysis.

Through recommendations, etc. a. by Kevin Wong , Brams came into contact with John Speraw . When he became the head coach of the US national team in 2013 , he accepted the young German into the supervisory staff. As a technical coordinator, Brams supports the team that won the world league in 2014. With the national team, he gained a great reputation. The multiple Olympic champion Charles Kiraly described him as one of "the world's best scouts" and "a vital part of the US team".

In April 2015, the German Bundesliga team SWD Powervolleys introduced Düren Brams as the new coach for the 2015/16 season. The club became aware of the Berliner through a report in the volleyball magazine ; an extensive portrait was published there in August 2014. Brams took on his first job as head coach and became the youngest coach in the Düren club's history. At the same time, he continued to work in the USA. With the Düren, he reached the playoff quarter-finals ; In the CEV Cup , the SWD Powervolleys also made it to the quarter-finals. At the end of the season, Brams left the club to concentrate on his software company.

As an entrepreneur

Brams already worked as a management consultant during his studies . He is very interested in statistics and has developed several analysis programs for volleyball. To this end, he founded the company Oppia Performance. He also works as a consultant for the Association of American Volleyball Trainers (AVCA) and for the German A-Trainer training.

Education and family

Brams graduated from the Coubertin-Gymnasium in Prenzlauer Berg in 2007 . He then successfully completed several studies. He studied business administration and sociology at the University of Potsdam . He obtained another bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy from the Free University of Berlin . In Hawaii he got a Masters in Communication Science . After the wedding, Brams took the surname of his Belgian wife, with whom he has a son.
