Anton Clemens von Toerring-Seefeld
Anton Clemens Graf von Toerring-Seefeld (born June 22, 1725 in Munich ; † February 6, 1812 ) was the Bavarian Privy Councilor , Chamberlain and Chief Chamberlain (President of the Court Chamber and Chief Chamberlain) and President of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences from 1793 to 1807 .
Life
Anton Clemens came from the Toerring aristocratic family and was the son of the Bavarian Field Marshal Ignaz von Törring . He served in the Bavarian military until 1755 and then married Emanuela Maria Josepha, b. Sedlnitzka von Choltitz (1740–1790). In 1789 he founded an agricultural society in Seefeld (Upper Bavaria) , in which farmers, citizens, nobility and clergy were given equal rights, a very progressive regulation for the time. In addition to his political activities as a Privy Councilor, Chamberlain and Chief Steward, he was also active as a writer. He was Vice President from 1780 to 1793 and President of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences from 1793 to 1807 .
