Anton Retschek
Anton Retschek (born April 8, 1885 in Hunin , † July 18, 1950 in Vienna ) was an Austrian diplomat .
Life
From 1923 to 1925, Anton Retschek headed the information office of the Migration Office , before taking up his post as envoy in the newly created Austrian embassy in Rio de Janeiro. He became Prime Minister and Consul General in Rio de Janeiro in 1925 and was accredited to the governments of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. From 1927 to 1932 and from 1933 to 1938 he was accredited by the governments in Santiago de Chile . During the Anschluss of Austria he was a representative of the “Free Austrian Movement” (FAM) and of the Comitö de Protegäo dos Interesses Austrfacos no Brasil, (Committee for the Protection of Austrian Interests in Brazil). From 1947 to 1949 he was again ambassador to Rio de Janeiro.
