Anton Spetzler (* 1799 in Kiel ; † January 7, 1852 there ) was a German architect and construction officer .

Life

Spetzler studied at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In 1818 he founded the Corps Holsatia .

From 1824 to 1825 he was entrusted with the construction of the Reformed Church under the then Lübeck city ​​architect Heinrich Nikolaus Börm . This was followed by a time as a city architect in Lüneburg , during which he built the former Johanneum building from 1826 to 1828 , in which the Johannes-Rabeler-Schule is now located. In spring 1833 he was appointed city architect in Lübeck by the Lübeck City Council as successor to Börm. He held this office until 1849.

As a city architect in 1836/1837 he was also responsible for the new construction of the Nusse church in the Lübeck exclave of Nusse , as well as for dyke and hydraulic structures and the first planning for railway construction in Lübeck in advance of the establishment of the Lübeck-Büchener Railway . In 1838 the Catholic St. Ludwig's Church in Celle was completed according to his plans, a pure example of classicism .

His son Oskar Spetzler (* 1841) also became an architect and trade teacher; the politician Anton Spetzler was a grandson.
