Anton Jakob Franziskus Stecher (born July 11, 1805 , † August 19, 1895 in Mals ) was a South Tyrolean mayor and rifle captain from 1848 and 1866.

Life

Anton Stecher was born in Mals in Vinschgau as the son of the councilor and innkeeper Josef Stecher and Franziska Flora as their only son. After completing a commercial apprenticeship in Rovereto and a language stay in the nearby Valtellina , Anton Stecher took over his parents' inn Zum Hirschen in Mals in 1841 . He was married to Theresa Agathle from Schleis and had four children with her. In 1895, Stecher died as the village elder in Mals.

In addition to his professional activity as a landlord and wine merchant, Stecher was also politically active. Between 1836 and 1866 he was elected mayor of the municipality of Mals six times .

Anton Stecher was in early June 1848 Captain of the Guard-company times with companies of the Court of Glurns in the war against Italian troops deployed on the Stelvio Pass, 1866, he had as a militia captain and court Upper protect masterful securing the Swiss border over.
