Anton Sterzl

Anton Georg Sterzl (born January 5, 1927 in Waischenfeld , Upper Franconia ; † July 17, 2015 ) was a German philosopher, historian, journalist and author. Sterzl was editor-in-chief of the Aachener Volkszeitung from 1978 to 1991 .

Life

Sterzl passed his Abitur in the war class 1944 at the New Gymnasium in Bamberg and then studied philosophy and history at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg . There he became a member of the Catholic student union K. D. St. V. Gothia Erlangen in the CV . In 1950, at the age of only 23, he was born with the work Romanus-Christianus-Barbarus: The Germanic land grab as reflected in the writings of Salvian von Massilia and Victor von Vita . PhD at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Erlangen .

He started his career as a trainee and features editor at the Bamberger Volksblatt . In 1959 he moved to the Rhineland for the Kölnische Rundschau . There he became deputy editor-in-chief in 1967 and editor-in-chief in 1974. From 1978 to 1991 Anton Sterzl was editor-in-chief of the Aachener Volkszeitung.

Anton Sterzl has received journalism prizes such as the Theodor Wolff Prize (1981) and the Emil Dovifat Prize . On November 7, 1991 he received the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1999 he was awarded the media prize for expellees in Bavaria.
