Anton Wernet

Anton Wernet (born June 29, 1895 in Neukirch ; † May 15, 1968 in Säckingen ) was a German lawyer and politician ( BCSV , CDU ).

Life

Anton Wernet was born the son of a forest worker. After attending the Lender college in Sasbach and the Friedrich-Gymnasium in Freiburg im Breisgau , he took part in the First World War as a soldier from 1914 to 1917 . During the war he suffered a serious wound, after which he was unfit for service. In 1917 he began studying law at the universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg , which he completed in 1920 with the first state examination in law. After his legal clerkship, he passed the second state examination in law in 1923, was admitted to the bar in the same year and subsequently worked as such. During the Weimar Republic , he joined the Center Party . From 1926 to 1933 he was chairman of the center in the district of Säckingen . From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .

Wernet was mayor of the city of Säckingen from 1945 to 1946 . In 1946 he joined the BCSV, which later became the Baden regional association of the CDU. He was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Baden from November 1946 to May 1947 . From 1947 to 1952 he was a direct candidate for the constituency of Säckingen-Waldshut and was a member of the Baden state parliament , where he was chairman of the judicial committee.
