Antonello Grimaldi

Antonello Grimaldi (actually Antonio Luigi Grimaldi , born August 14, 1955 in Sassari , Sardinia ) is an Italian film director.

Life

Grimaldi first studied law in his hometown of Sassari. From 1980 to 1983 he received directing training at the Gaumont Film School in Rome . He made his directorial debut in 1985 with the episode film Juke Box, produced by Renzo Rossellini . After journalistic work and experience as a program manager at RAITre , he presented his first independent feature film in 1988, Nulla ci può fermare . The third film Il cielo è semper più blu from 1995 made its way abroad through festivals and finally to British cinema. In Germany it was shown at the Berlinale 1996 in the Panorama section. After two more cinema films, some Italian television productions followed. In 2008 he shot his most successful film to date, Stilles Chaos, with Nanni Moretti in the lead role. Moretti also wrote the script. The film was invited to the 2008 Berlinale competition and was nominated for numerous David di Donatello awards. He finally won the Italian film award in the categories of best music, best song and Alessandro Gassmann received the award for best supporting actor. Grimaldi was also the overall director of some productions and an actor for others.

In the mid-1980s, Grimaldi had already founded the film company "Vertigo", which produces documentary and advertising films.
